Why Am I Struggling to Land an Online Job?

At this point, if you haven't heard the song "Numb Little Bug" by Em Beihold, I'm pretty sure you've been living under a rock somewhere in the deep mountains. Anyway, it was on the radio while I was driving home today, and it totally made me smile. I mean, how much more spot-on can you get with her description of adulting? At this point, I'm completely there: a little bit tired of life. I'm sure you've been there before, too.

I mean, I've created 20+ cover letters and resumes over the past month, and I've filled out 20+ job applications. Thankfully, when I'm applying directly on district websites, I can import a lot of the information from an application from a different district, but goodness! All that and I've only had two interviews. I know that my options are less than if I was applying for a brick-and-mortar teaching position, but with my daughter being enrolled in an online school next year, I can't see her being ok with being home alone day after day throughout the school year. Getting a virtual job is the only answer right now.

And here's the kicker - I haven't ONLY applied to teaching positions. I've applied to social media and email marketing trainee/apprenticeships, student support specialists with colleges, ATTPS coordinators in the public school sector, virtual assistants, and special education consultant openings. I mean, I'm more than qualified for every single job I've tried for, and I've got the knowledge, skills, and track record to prove it. I know I'll probably have to be ok with taking a small pay cut if I'm offered a teaching position. That's fine. I just need a chance to talk to employers to let them know what I expect.

Anyway, until I get another lead, I'll continue filling my time with reading, crafting, blogging (and making more graphics for my store), studying digital marketing through Coursera, and applying for every job that I know I'm qualified to fill. I'm keeping the faith that God's got my back and that something will come around before long. Keep praying for me, friends. I need it now more than ever.
